Alternative in vitro, ex-ovo, and organism models: from research to applications in pathologies and aging.
July 7, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Faculty of Pharmacy, Lecture Hall B
Alternative methods to animal testing, which are becoming increasingly burdensome in terms of technical and financial constraints, offer a promising approach to evaluating new treatments for chronic diseases and age-related conditions. The development of these new models is a real challenge in terms of responding to societal concerns through an ethical approach aimed at reducing, refining, and replacing (3Rs: reduce, refine, replace) the use of animals for scientific purposes.
Recognizing the value of such an approach, the French Society of Pharmacy of the Latin Mediterranean (SFPML) agreed to hold this symposium in conjunction with the 14th annual day of its national meetings.
This international symposium is organized in collaboration between members of INSERM (U 1058) and CNRS (UMR 5247) in Montpellier.
This working group was formed based on interest in alternative in vitro methods and is behind this symposium, which will address cellular studies, reconstituted skin studies and skin biopsies, ex-ovo methods, and finally new model organisms.
