Alternative in vitro, ex-ovo, and organism models: from research to applications in disease and aging.
July 7, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
School of Pharmacy, Lecture Hall B
Alternative methods to animal testing, whose technical and financial constraints are becoming increasingly burdensome, represent a promising approach to evaluating new treatments for chronic diseases and age-related conditions. The development of these new models is a significant challenge in addressing societal concerns through an ethical approach aimed at reducing, refining, and replacing (3Rs: reduce, refine, replace) the use of animals for scientific purposes.
Recognizing the value of such an approach, the French Society of Pharmacy of the Latin Mediterranean (SFPML) has agreed to hold this symposium in conjunction with the 14th edition of its national conference.
This international symposium is organized in collaboration with members of INSERM (U 1058) and the CNRS (UMR 5247) in Montpellier.
This working group was formed to explore the potential of alternative in vitro methods and is the driving force behind this symposium, which will address cellular studies, studies using reconstructed skin and skin biopsies, ex-ovo methods, and, finally, new model organisms.
