Peer review as an iterative learning process: the case of dashboards:
Project Leader: Guillaume Dumas
Department: MOMA – Montpellier Management
Summary: A dashboard is a document that synthesizes information, enabling decision-makers to monitor and manage a project or a complex organization. It is a management tool that can be used by executives in all types of organizations. The creation of a dashboard follows an iterative process. An individual (usually the management controller) proposes a dashboard. This is submitted to the manager (decision-maker), who requests changes and improvements. A second version (V2) is proposed and then discussed. This is followed by a V3, and so on. This iterative improvement process is difficult to replicate within the framework of a traditional exercise. Therefore, we wish to apply peer review to the process of creating and improving the dashboard: (1) proposal of a Version 1, (2) constructive feedback to improve the document (via peer review), and (3) refinement of Version 2 based on the feedback received.

COMP: TEDS SUPPORT (FOR INFORMATION)
As part of the Contract for Objectives, Resources, and Performance (COMP), initiatives focusing in particular on training in ecological transition and sustainable development (TEDS) have been approved. In this context, calls for projects (€400,000) led by the directors of the UEIs will be issued under two main themes:
1) Installation of equipment and demonstration systems related to the ecological transition and sustainable development (TEDS);
2) Support for the creation of degree programs focused on ecological and societal transitions: This involves the creation of new degree programs within bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. The timeline for this call for proposals will be accelerated to allow the new programs to begin in September 2024.
We invite you to contact your UEI Directors if you would like to launch a project under this initiative.
We would also like to inform you that additional support measures have been put in place as part of the implementation of mandatory TEDS course units in the undergraduate program, as well as to raise awareness within the university community and provide training for TEDS instructors.

PhotoBetDEUM: PHOTO-reactor and BET for the implementation of sustainable chemistry in laboratory experiments at UM and ENSCM
Project Leader: Pascal DUMY
Department: ENSCM
Abstract: Preparing our students to meet the challenges of the ecological transition is imperative and requires an evolution of our curriculum in the Bachelor’s, Master’s in Chemistry, and engineering programs. The PhotoBetDEUM project focuses on the acquisition of two pieces of equipment (a photoreactor and a sorption system) to address two key decarbonization challenges. These will enable us to offer projects ranging from organic synthesis to materials, using eco-efficient processes. In this way, we will prepare our students to actively address ecological challenges in the chemical sector and propose sustainable solutions. The PhotoBetDEUM project aims to be inclusive by bringing together the educational needs of the Fds and the ENSCM.
EDPP: Sustainable Education Park at the Perpignan site
Project Leader: Agnès PERRIN-DOUCEY
Affiliation: Faculty of Education
Summary: The goal is to adapt the training facility to water stress and global warming in order to maintain an attractive and environmentally responsible space for study and work. Through this initiative, the project aims to serve as an educational showcase: an innovative schoolyard, an incubator for open pedagogy, and a meeting place for teachers, student teachers, and their instructors. The creation of this space is intended to integrate the training site into a network of collaboration.
SEZU: Small-Scale Wind Power System for Urban Areas
Project Leader: Jean-Michel MARIN
Department: Faculty of Sciences
Abstract: The project aims to develop a low-power urban vertical-axis wind turbine connected to the power grid on the Triolet campus. This multidisciplinary project primarily draws on expertise in mechanical engineering (manufacturing the support structure, optimizing the conversion of wind kinetic energy) and electrical engineering (developing a high-performance generator/converter system). System supervision (SCADA, which stands for “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition”) is also a central component of the project.
ECOFORUM: (University of Montpellier’s Training Program in Ecological Transition) – Environmental assessment of biodiversity, air quality, and climate change for the University of Montpellier’s training program in ecological transition
Project Leader: Jean-Michel MARIN

IPTECH: Development of Educational Technology Platforms for Measuring Environmental Impacts
Project Leader: Lionel TORRES
Department: Polytech
Abstract: As part of an effort to strengthen our position regarding TEDS challenges, the objective of this project is to equip several educational technology platforms with an IoT (Internet of Things) infrastructure dedicated to measuring resource flows, in order to quantify environmental impacts. This project is thus dedicated to: (i) installing sensors on each experimental device (“connected” workstation) to determine electricity and fluid consumption as well as gas emissions, and (ii) interfacing them to display data in real time. The Materials Hall at Polytech Montpellier and the IUT in Béziers will be the first to be equipped and will serve as pilot sites; the approach will then be extended to the School’s other platforms and associated units.
Leave for educational projects (for your information)
The process for granting educational project leave (CPP) is separate from calls for proposals (AAP) and success in an AAP. In other words, it is possible to submit a CPP proposal independently of the outcome of an AAP. Success in an AAP does not automatically result in the granting of CPP, as the two allocation processes follow separate procedures.
