Lecture at the University of Montpellier: “Diabetes: When Eating Is a Pleasure”

As part of European Disability Employment Week (SEEPH), the University of Montpellier is organizing a conference on type 2 diabetes that is open to everyone. It will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Dumontet Auditorium on the Triolet campus.

A Multi-Perspective Look at Diabetes and Nutrition

Diabetes“is defined by elevated blood sugar levels, known as hyperglycemia. It is a chronic condition, meaning that while there is no cure for diabetes, blood sugar levels can be managed, which helps reduce the risk of complications associated with hyperglycemia.” Hosted by Ariane Sultan, a professor specializing in diabetology and nutrition at Lapeyronie University Hospital, this event aims to raise awareness of diabetes as an invisible disability—which qualifies individuals for recognition as a worker with a disability (RQTH)—and to promote a healthy diet that balances enjoyment with quality of life.

The conference will cover:

  • the links between diet and diabetes management;
  • current nutritional recommendations, through a humanistic and personalized approach to nutrition.

This conference is organized by the Handiversité office of the Campus Life Department as part of theUM disability master planUM the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH). More information here. The conference will be followed by a session on diet and type 2 diabetes led by the Joint Office for Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion (SCMPPS).
