Free training series on high-performance computing

For the second consecutive year, starting in October 2016, the MESO@LR center is offering a free training series open to everyone on the topic of “high-performance computing (HPC).” The series consists of a 2-hour lecture held once a month for 9 months on the Triolet campus of the University of Montpellier.
The goal of this training course is to introduce participants to and/or deepen their understanding of computing and data-related topics (HPC, Big Data). It is intended for researchers, doctoral students, engineers, industry professionals, and others from all fields—including both those new to the subject and those seeking to expand their knowledge.
The range of topics covered will be broad, with presentations on hardware, tools, and application examples. The presentations will be given by industry representatives as well as users from various fields.
This training session is open to everyone, but free registration is required. Each session is independent.
The first session, held on October 10, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., will focus on a presentation of the data center:
“Introduction to the MESO@LR systems: How to submit and run your first job”.
The full program is available on the website www.hpc-lr.umontpellier.fr.
This first session will also provide an opportunity to showcase the equipment currently being installed—the MUSE Cluster (MESO project)—which is funded by the OCCITANIE / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region and the Montpellier Méditerranée Metropolitan Area as part of the 2015–2020 CPER.
If you are a doctoral student, this course may count toward your doctoral program. We recommend that you contact your doctoral school for more information.
