As part of the "Rendez-vous de l'Eco", the Faculty of Economics, in partnership with Midi Libre, is organizing a round-table discussion on the theme: "Should we still be talking about growth and innovation in the face of post-crisis challenges and the demands of ecological transition?" February 15, 2022 by videoconference.
The notions of innovation and growth are often at the center of public and academic debate. In the post-pandemic context, some still see innovation as a vector for growth and wealth creation, or even as a solution for ensuring the ecological transition and a better distribution of wealth. For others, innovation is a dead end and growth, at best a pipe dream, at worst an obstacle to the preservation of natural resources.
Some economists are now highlighting the slowdown in productivity gains, and see this as a sign of the exhaustion of disruptive innovations, including in the digital field. Others point out that the wave of digital innovations is, after all, a recent one, that the spread of digital technology and its use are still partial in companies and administrations, that many gains escape accounting models, and that artificial intelligence, 5G, blockchain and quantum technology are still in their infancy...
It is on this subject, and with a view to the debates that will dominate the coming period, that we propose to devote the next Rendez-Vous de l'Eco.
Round-table discussion moderated by Olivier BISCAYE, Editorial Director, Midi Libre.
The speakers:
- Philippe Askenazy, Director of Research at CNRS and Professor at ENS
- Gilbert Cette, Professor at NEOMA Business School
- Elie Cohen, CNRS Research Director
- Eric Labaye, President of École polytechnique
The round table will take place on February 15 at 6pm by videoconference.
