"I'm Filming My Course" is an annual educational video contest that allows students to showcase their coursework by creating a video. This year, Cécile, Amélie, Gyress, Lucas, Pierre, and Gérald—all aquaculture students enrolled in continuing education—took on the challenge. This young, highly responsive, dedicated, and committed team managed—on a very tight schedule and while juggling their classes and exams—to produce a high-quality, informative, and entertaining video. They’d pull out their phones between classes to film a scene. In just one week, filming was complete! Then it was time for editing, working on the footage in the evenings and on weekends. To finalize their video, they recorded the voice-over in the University of Montpellier’s recording studio.
Based at the Sète Marine Station, the continuing education department has over 40 years of experience in professional training in aquaculture, aquarium science, aquaponics, fisheries science, environmental management, and freediving. The instructors, who come from the professional world, train about 40 people each year. With a job placement rate exceeding 80%, these training programs are true pathways to success. The primary goal is to help young people—as well as working professionals seeking a career change—gain a better understanding of careers in aquaculture. The aim is to present an industry and a profession through the eyes of those who are currently learning the trade.
The video’s pitch: Jo lives in the south of France, in the beautiful town of Sète. In this video, he’ll tell you the story of men and women who came here to change their lives, switch careers, gain professional experience, and acquire skills in the field of aquaculture. More than just training, they aspire to change the world and tackle the food challenges linked to our seas and oceans! Dive in and find out who Jo is…
