At the University of Montpellier, International Women's Rights Day lasts a month, from March 1 to 31! For its 8th edition, "Donner des Elles à l'UM" invites you to continue working together to advance gender equality.
Like every year, March marks the return of gender equality initiatives at the UM.
We'll be talking about women who are daring and enduring, invisibilized and abused. It will be about their vision of the world and their success, about what moves them or hinders them. There will be humor and gravity, emotion and reflection.
This year's program includes a self-defense workshop reserved for UM students, a selection of short films, a screening of Stephen Frears' The Lost King (watch out!), participatory theater, puppet theater, a photo exhibition, a guided tour of the Musée Fabre, a round table on the concept of "success" and a selection of documents at the BU.

March 8: International Women's Rights Day
Officialized by the United Nations in 1977, International Women's Rights Day has its origins in the struggles of the early 20th century, when women workers and suffragettes fought for better working conditions, and for the right to vote, which was not obtained in France until 1944.
For almost 40 years, this international day of events has provided an opportunity to take stock of the situation faced by women around the world. A day of struggle for women's rights, it remains a burning issue.
