The Ceïba Foundation works to preserve the century-old trees in the Jardin des Plantes
On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Ceïba Foundation announced a donation of 121,000 € to the Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier. This initiative is fully in line with the objectives of the foundation, which was created by the real estate group Socri Reim to preserve nature in urban areas and promote biodiversity.

The donation, in the amount of 121,000 €, will be paid into the Jardin des Plantes endowment fund. The announcement was made to the press on the sidelines of the foundation’s gala dinner, attended by: Nicolas Chambon, chairman of the foundation’s board of directors and president of Socri Reim; Michaël Delafosse, mayor of Montpellier and president of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole; and Philippe Augé, president of the University of Montpellier.
Construction in the fall of 2024
This amount is in addition to the two previous fundraising campaigns, which raised €60,000 in 2022 and €77,000 in 2023. This first phase made it possible to conduct assessments and develop the recommendations necessary to preserve the century-old trees in the Jardin des Plantes. Work will begin in the fall of 2024.
Founded in September 2021 by Socri Reim, the Ceïba Foundation aims to advise local governments on the development of nature in urban areas and to implement initiatives focused on renaturalization, greening, reducing soil imperviousness, mitigating heat islands, and improving the water cycle. These efforts aim to help combat global warming and promote sustainable development.
