The Jane, the key to successful integration
On September 18 and 19, 2024, the Jardin des Plantes was transformed into a festive and convivial venue to welcome new students at the Jane. The event provided an opportunity to discover the multitude of activities and services offered by the University of Montpellier throughout the year. It's a great way to start the year by meeting the various members of the university community.
It's back every year, and invariably follows on from the start of the new academic year: the Jane, which stands for Journée d'accueil des nouveaux étudiants et étudiantes. The Jane now takes the plural form, as new students were able to take advantage of the two-day event organized by the Bureau de la vie étudiante (BVE). "These days are an opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with the university's services, the facilities available to them, and the many student associations. They can also meet various cultural and institutional partners," explains Alexane Lequart, student vice-president at the University of Montpellier.
More than 2,500 students came to take advantage of this day dedicated to them, organized around 3 villages and more than 60 stands.
The opportunity to receive the new version of the student guide
A reference tool to help newcomers discover all the information and contacts they need to organize their studies, as well as their cultural, sporting and social life.
"This year we wanted to turn our actions towards raising awareness of sustainable development, which is why we wanted to create a guide with this image. It is particularly useful when a student has a question about a specific service and doesn't know who to contact. The guide provides a wealth of information and essential contacts! It also provides an overview of all the services available, as well as a directory of student associations," explains Alexane Lequart.
The University Services Village
This village is an opportunity to discover the many services and departments that are committed on a daily basis to facilitating students' academic careers, helping them build their career plans and achieve personal fulfillment. Support services include a variety of workshops, from skills development to stress and time management.
Each department has a clear mission within the school: guidance, psychological support, help in finding internships and jobs... All work together for the well-being of students.
A wide range of student associations to get involved in fun activities
The aim of this village is to promote the network of associations present on the various campuses of the University of Montpellier. It's an opportunity for all the student associations present to showcase their activities and attract new members.
Village culture and daily life
A village dedicated to the University of Montpellier's partners, highlighting the city's dynamism from every angle: mobility, cultural events and venues, youth facilities and the metropolis's major projects.
