The Jane, the key to successful integration

On September 18 and 19, 2024, the Jardin des Plantes was transformed into a festive and friendly place to welcome new students during the Jane. The opportunity to discover the multitude of activities and services that animate the University of Montpellier throughout the year. A great way to start the year by meeting the different actors of the university community.

It comes back every year and invariably follows the start of the university year, the Jane for the welcome day for new students. A Jane that is now available in the plural since it is over two days that they were able to enjoy this event organized by the Student Life Office (BVE), “These days are an opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with the university services, the facilities available to them, or with the many student associations. They can also meet different cultural and institutional partners.” explains Alexane Lequart, student vice-president of the University of Montpellier.

More than 4,000 students were able to come and enjoy this event dedicated to them, over 2 days structured around 3 villages and more than 60 stands.

The opportunity to receive the new version of the student guide

A reference support to help new arrivals discover all the useful information and contacts to best organize their studies as well as their cultural, sporting and social life.

“This year we wanted to focus our actions on raising awareness of sustainable development, which is why we wanted to create a guide in this image. It is particularly useful when a student has a question about a specific service and does not know who to contact. They will find a lot of information in this guide as well as essential contacts! It also allows them to see all the accessible systems as well as the directory of student associations,” explains Alexane Lequart.

The University Services Village

This village allows you to discover the many services and departments that work daily to facilitate the university paths of students, help them build their professional project and flourish personally. Among the support systems, various workshops, ranging from skills development to stress and time management.

Each department and management has a clear mission within the establishment: guidance, psychological support, help with finding internships and jobs, etc. They all work together for the well-being of students.

A variety of student associations to get involved in fun activities

This village aims to promote the associative network present on the different campuses of the University of Montpellier. The opportunity for all the student associations present to highlight their activities and attract new members.
