The Nîmes University Institute of Technology (IUT) is hosting the 9th edition of the Civil Engineering & Sustainable Construction Challenge for civil engineering departments at IUTs across France
The buildings of tomorrow are environmentally responsible; they take into account their surroundings, urban mobility, the sustainability of materials and their reuse, as well as technological advancements in the construction industry. To promote this vision, civil engineering students from France’s IUTs and construction professionals gather every two years for the Civil Engineering & Sustainable Construction Challenge.

From June 10 to 12, teams from each IUT presented their ideas and solutions to the challenge’s topics to industry professionals, partners, and judges, using booths, models, and educational posters to support their presentations. This provided them with an opportunity to test their skills against industry expectations and showcase their expertise through innovative projects rooted in the sector’s environmental challenges. The three-day event also featured sports and cultural activities, as well as hands-on workshops, allowing students to unwind and get to know each other outside of the competition.
This challenge, which combines competition, collaboration, and innovation, concluded with an awards ceremony honoring the most meticulous and creative teams, marking the end of an event rich in discussion and new perspectives for the future of construction.
