The Montpellier-Sète University Institute of Technology is hosting the "Physical Measurements Challenge"

The National Physical Measurement Challenge, titled “Sous le vent de Neptune” this year, will take place at the Montpellier-Sète University Institute of Technology (IUT) of the University of Montpellier from March 17 to 19. Since 2009, the twenty-nine physical measurement departments of France’s University Institutes of Technology have organized this national scientific and technological conference, which focuses on measurement and metrology.

The "challenge" in a nutshell

As the 2022 winner, tradition dictated that the Montpellier-Sète University Institute of Technology (IUT) host the 2023 edition of the Physical Measurements Challenge, which will take place on its home turf from March 17 to 19.  The event brings together about ten teams, each consisting of five second-year students in the Bachelor’s in Physical Measurements program and their advisors, from all over France. During this competition, participants are invited to showcase a year’s worth of work on the design and implementation of portable and automated measurement systems.

For this year’s competition, the Montpellier-Sète University Institute of Technology (IUT) has chosen themes that are close to our region’s heart: the tramontane wind, salt flats, sand, beer, and handball. Over the course of these two days, teams will demonstrate and share their skills in the design, development, and implementation of their own sensors, all while adhering to very specific technical specifications. On the day of the competition, March 18, each team will present its measurement systems to a jury composed of faculty members and professionals, hoping to win the coveted Celsius Shield, which will be awarded to the winning team.
