Université de Montpellier honored in Chengdu (China)

Montpellier is in the spotlight during International Exchange Month at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in the city of Chengdu, from October 15 to November 14.

On October 16, François Pierrot, UM's Vice President for International Relations, inaugurated an exhibition of photographs and videos dedicated to the University of Montpellier, took part in the cultural festival and gave a keynote speech on the challenges that technology represents for humanity to 600 Chinese students.

Accompanied by a team from the UM's International Relations Department, he took advantage of the event to exchange views with UESTC's directors, CAO Ping, PENG Lan and HU Jun, on the cooperative partnerships and projects that unite the two universities.

This is an opportunity to highlight the historic links between Montpellier and Chengdu, twin cities since 1981, the first twinning between a French and a Chinese city. The UESTC is also home to the Alliance Française de Chengdu, and co-founded the Institut Confucius de Montpellier with the UM. Following this visit, a Chinese delegation will be welcomed to the UM on November 6.
