Official presentation of the book “From the Lab to Classroom 2, Health Ecology”

On Wednesday, January 31, at 5 p.m. at the Triolet campus of the University of Montpellier, Sophie Béjean, Rector of the Occitanie academic region, Rector of the Montpellier Academy, Chancellor of Universities, accompanied by Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, and Florent Guhl, Regional Director of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry, will attend the official presentation of the book "From the Lab to the Classroom 2: Health Ecology."

After three years of work, 89 teachers and researchers will officially receive a copy of the book they co-authored on the topic of Health Ecology. This book is the result of a new collaboration between Professors the University of Montpellier and researchers (CNRS, IRD, CIRAD, INRAE) and secondary school teachers (life and earth sciences, biotechnology, agriculture). Like its predecessor on evolution, its aim is to integrate resources from authentic and recent scientific articles into teaching sequences in middle and high schools.

The "ready-to-use" activities offered, with posters accompanying each article, are tools that have been carefully designed and thought out by the authors. They bring about change in teaching practices by adapting the latest scientific research findings to each secondary school grade level.

This second book focuses on health ecology, which is at the heart of current scientific research and the strategy pursued by the University of Montpellier. This theme involves using the tools and concepts of ecology and evolutionary biology for the integrated and coordinated study of human, animal, and plant health.

The approximately 200-page book is distributed nationally to every high school and middle school in France, as well as to agricultural education institutions. With a print run of 12,000 copies, its printing was funded by the University of Montpellier, and its layout and distribution were made possible through the collaboration of the APBG (Association of Biology and Geology Teachers).

Microphone held out at the end of the meeting
