“Science in Pictures: Life Is Beautiful,” a large-scale exhibition in the heart of the Jardin des Plantes
From September 29 to October 31, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the academic imaging and cytometry platform MRI (Montpellier Ressources Imagerie) is presenting a unique exhibition of large-format microscopy photographs. It invites the public to discover the poetry of the infinitely small world, amidst the towering trees of the Jardin des Plantes.
By invitation only
The living world is beautiful, and the appeal of microscopic images extends far beyond the scientific community. The exhibition “Science in Pictures: Life Is Beautiful” features 40 large-format photos illustrating the work of the 800 scientists who use the MRI platform’s instruments. Animals, plants, or single-celled organisms? Selected for their aesthetic qualities, these images invite contemplation as much as they provoke questions. Each photo includes its source and the objective the scientists were pursuing at the time it was taken.

Art and Science in Harmony
Art and science seek to reveal the invisible and the unknown. The photographs on display show that science is not just about reason and rigor. Like art, it can evoke emotion and inspire the imagination. This exhibition, which brings together art and science, aims to foster new connections between scientists and the general public.
