A more visible training offering for users

As students submit their preferences on Parcoursup, the University of Montpellier continues to refine the presentation of its course offerings through a new web portal. This project has been underway for several months, involving 17 departments, schools, and institutes, as well as numerous services and departments. We take stock with François Mirabel, director of SCUIO-IP.

Sleek design, advanced search engine for quickly finding information, new navigation menus, filtered display of search results, etc.

"This new version focuses on simplicity to enhance the visibility of the training offering, better highlight the content, and simplify the user experience," says François Mirabel, Director of SCUIO-IP. " With this new web portal, we collectively wanted to create an innovative display that would make our training courses even more accessible to different audiences. The presentation is designed to be more user-friendly and intuitive in order to make it easier for students to navigate."

The UM offers its 50,000 students more than 250 national degrees and 300 university degrees.

Promoting synergies between stakeholders

This consistency is evident, as the website now offers redesigned information sheets for certain courses, presenting as much useful information as possible in a clear and appealing way: a table of coursesoffered, expected knowledge and skills, success rates per course, student testimonials, career opportunities, and professional integration. In accordance with the request of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, courses and programs that are state-approved are highlighted with a label. The interfaces and user paths have been designed to meet the expectations of different audiences: high school students, university students, families, international partners, socio-economic actors, research organizations, and more. "The site has been designed to be responsive: it adapts to all types of devices (computers, tablets, mobile phones) and thus meets the expectations of the various audiences likely to consult it. It also includes an English translation solution which, thanks to deep learning, offers more accurate and relevant results ," explains François Mirabel.

This is a key point when you consider that nearly 16% of the University of Montpellier's student body is made up of international students, who contribute to intercultural dialogue and the dissemination of knowledge.
