A more visible training offering for users
As students are currently submitting their course preferences on Parcoursup, the University of Montpellier continues to refine the presentation of its academic offerings through a new web portal. This project has involved the university’s 17 academic departments, schools, and institutes, as well as numerous administrative offices and divisions, for several months now. We check in with François Mirabel, director of SCUIO-IP.

Clean design, an advanced search engine for quickly finding information, new navigation menus, filtered search results…
“This new version focuses on simplicity to enhance the visibility of our course offerings, better highlight the content, and streamline the user experience,” says François Mirabel, director of SCUIO-IP. “With this new web portal, we collectively sought to create an innovative layout that would make our courses even more accessible to our various audiences. The layout is designed to be more user-friendly and intuitive to make navigation easier for students.”
The University of Marseille offers its 50,000 students more than 250 national degrees and 300 university degrees.
Promote collaboration among stakeholders
This effort to ensure consistency is evident, as the website now features redesigned programdescriptions for certain courses, presenting as much useful information as possible in a clear and user-friendly format: coursesyllabi, expected knowledge and skills, success rates by program, student testimonials, career opportunities, and job placement… In accordance with the request from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, state-regulated programs and pathways are highlighted with a special label. The user interfaces and navigation paths have been carefully designed to meet the needs of various audiences: high school students, college students, families, international partners, socio-economic stakeholders, research organizations… “The site was designed to be responsive: it adapts to all types of devices (computers, tablets, mobile phones) and thus meets the expectations of the various audiences likely to visit it. It also includes an English translation solution that, thanks to deep learning, offers more accurate and relevant results ,” explains François Mirabel.
This is a key point, especially given that nearly 16% of the University of Montpellier’s student body consists of international students, who contribute to intercultural dialogue and the dissemination of knowledge.
