Daily life
Living well at university also means living well in everyday life. Accommodation, transport and meals are all practical aspects that go beyond the walls of the university and have a direct impact on your daily life, playing an essential role in your success and well-being.
The University of Montpellier can help you get started by providing useful resources and advice tailored to your situation.
Accommodation
Lodging options
Crous student residences
Crous is the leading provider of student accommodation. It offers a wide range of university residences and other accommodation to suit all budgets and needs, close to faculties, schools and institutes.
- Accommodation - Crous Montpellier-Occitanie.
- Lokaviz: Crous platform offering students accommodation in private homes.
Private housing and shared accommodation
In addition to university residences, students can turn to private rentals, furnished or empty, through private individuals or real estate agencies.
Sharing a flat is also a less expensive solution, with the emphasis on sharing common spaces and daily life.
Several platforms make it easy to find apartments or flat-shares: leboncoin, se loger, la carte des colocs, colocation 40+, Proby, etc.
Social housing
In Montpellier, the social landlord ACM Habitat offers student rentals in several areas of Montpellier, close to faculties, schools and institutes and all amenities. You don't have to be a scholarship holder; only your own income is taken into account (not your parents').
Intergenerational housing
Intergenerational housing is one of the most economical alternatives when you want to keep your rent low. Sharing a home and providing small services on a daily basis is an opportunity to live together in solidarity, while reducing your housing costs.
If you have any doubts or questions about adapted housing, please contact us by e-mail.
Housing subsidies
CAF
The Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF) is a public body responsible for paying out social benefits and financial aid, subject to certain conditions.
Use the CAF online simulator to estimate the amount of assistance you could receive.
Visale scheme
Completely free of charge, the Visale scheme acts as a guarantor for students under the age of 30. It facilitates the process by strengthening your file and, if necessary, covering the rent in the event of payment difficulties. In the event of late payment, Visale pays the amount due directly to the landlord, and the tenant then reimburses the amount advanced.
Easy backrest
This service enables you to create a simplified, complete and secure digital rental file, to maximize your chances of finding a home.
