Are you ready for enchantment, reflection, imagination and daydreaming? Every year, art and contemporary cultures are reinvented at the University of Montpellier through artist residencies, events, exhibitions, workshops... Our teams spare no time or effort to offer a singular and diversified program on the university's various sites, and sometimes even remotely. Whether you're a student or an employee of the University, take the time this year for a cultural getaway: inspiration, creation and recreation are at your fingertips. Philippe AugéPrésident de l'Université de Montpellier Agnès Fichard-CarrollVice-Présidente déléguée à la Responsabilité sociale Year 2024/2025 The art & culture department offers students and staff the chance to experience contemporary art and culture within the university and beyond. The program is developed in close collaboration with various members of the university community and local cultural organizations. It is regularly open to the general public, helping to open up the campuses to the city. In order to strengthen its commitment to the dissemination and promotion of the arts, the UM has drawn up a roadmap outlining its cultural priorities for the next two years. This roadmap affirms the essential place of art within the establishment, encourages the practice and creation of artistic projects, and emphasizes inclusion and fulfillment through culture. In line with this desire to enable cultural experience at the highest level, since the start of the 2024 academic year the UM has introduced the status of student artist, which enables students to reconcile their artistic activity with their academic career by benefiting from adjustments to their studies and personalized support. One of the Art & Culture department's flagship initiatives is the hosting of artists, particularly in the context of residencies, which places artistic creation at the heart of the university's cultural life. This is also punctuated by a range of workshops designed to encourage the artistic practices of the student community and staff. The department also supports individual and collective initiatives by students, staff and university associations, as well as by UFRs, Schools, Institutes and research units.
