EXPLORE is a call for proposals from the University of Montpellier, funded under the I-SITE Excellence Program (P.E.I.), aimed at supporting international mobility for faculty and doctoral students. Which tuition fees apply to your situation? The decree of May 19, 2026, regarding “the procedures for tuition fee exemptions for international students” modifies the regulatory framework and introduces new provisions for students who wish to enroll at the University of Montpellier. Until now, in accordance with existing regulations, the University of Montpellier could grant a partial exemption from tuition fees to all non-EU students. From now on, tuition fees are redefined and regulated by the entry into force of the decree. This article aims to present the main changes introduced by this reform, the groups affected, and the implementation procedures scheduled to take effect starting with the 2026 academic year. What are differentiated tuition fees? Differentiated tuition fees, which are now mandatory, are part of the national policy for welcoming international students.
