HydroSciences Montpellier (HSM)

HydroSciences Montpellier is a UM-CNRS-IRD laboratory that brings together disciplinary expertise to study, quantify, and predict the impacts of climate and human activities on water resources in Mediterranean and tropical regions.
The main topics studied are:
- the water cycle and interactions at different scales in the atmosphere–vegetation–soil–aquifer–river complex;
- characterization and modeling of transfers in heterogeneous media;
- the evolution of water resources in the face of global changes with complex prospective scenarios;
- the dynamics of metal and emerging contaminants and the health risks and adaptation mechanisms of waterborne pathogenic bacteria.
