Montpellier Institute of Plant Sciences (IPSIM)

UMR IPSIM seeks to elucidate the physiological mechanisms that govern hydromineral nutrition in plants and their responses to abiotic constraints and climate change (water stress, salt stress, mineral deficiencies, metal toxicity, CO2, high temperatures).

Programs focus on water and mineral ion transport in plants, mineral accumulation in seeds, mechanisms for perceiving and signalling environmental stresses, and developmental responses to these stresses (especially the root system).

The approach is that of integrative biology, combining molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and biophysics, functional genomics and genetics, on model plants (Arabidopsis thaliana) or plants of agronomic interest (maize, rice, wheat, grapevine, lupin).
