Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IDESP)
The Institut Desbrest d'Épidémiologie et de Santé Publique (IDESP) aims to understand the development and evolution of chronic diseases, which affect over 30% of the population and absorb 80% of healthcare expenditure.
To achieve this, the INSERM - University of Montpellier Joint Research Unit Research is using a new approach that takes into account the wider environment and care trajectories, using multimodal markers (clinical, biological, behavioral, psychological, social, environmental) and drawing on the power of mathematics dedicated to massive data.
Its aim is to design optimized care and prevention pathways for relevant patient targets. Allergic and respiratory diseases, diabetes, obesity, kidney disease, vascular disease, inflammatory rheumatism and cancer are the focus of the first models.
