What are artificial intelligences doing to (open) science?

  • Category: Open Science Webinar
  • Dates: March 26, 2026
  • Hours: From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Location: Online

The development of generative artificial intelligence is profoundly changing our relationship with the production and dissemination of knowledge. These technologies challenge the ability of research to produce reliable content, organize its validation, and disseminate it openly and freely to as many people as possible. How can we understand the tensions surrounding the development of GAI? Should we rethink how we open up science in the age of artificial intelligence? How should we respond to these profound changes in how we read, write, and disseminate research?

Madeleine Géroudet is head of the Research and Researcher Services Department at the Libraries and Learning Center of the University of Lille.

The UM Open Science team is continuing its webinar program in 2026.

These webinars cover various topics related to Open Science (digital identity, open access publications, etc.).

They take place, with some exceptions, every other Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., with time for presentations and discussion.

These webinars will then be posted on UM's YouTube channel, in the Open Science playlist.
