What impact does artificial intelligence have on (open) science?

  • Category: Open Science Webinar
  • Dates: March 26, 2026
  • Schedule: From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Location: Online

The development of generative artificial intelligence is profoundly changing our relationship with the production and dissemination of knowledge. These technologies challenge the ability of research to produce reliable content, to organize its validation, and to disseminate it openly and freely to the widest possible audience. How can we understand the tensions surrounding the development of generative AI? Do we need to rethink how we make science accessible in the age of artificial intelligence? How should we respond to these profound changes in our practices of reading, writing, and disseminating research?

Madeleine Géroudet is the head of the Research and Researcher Services Department within the Libraries and Learning Centers at the University of Lille.

The UM Open Science team is continuing its webinar series in 2026.

These webinars cover various topics related to Open Science (digital identity, open-access publications, etc.)

With a few exceptions, these sessions are held every other Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. and include a presentation and a discussion period.

These webinars will then be posted on the UM’s YouTube channel, in the “Science” playlist.
