On this occasion, Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, took part in the launch of a new building dedicated to training, research and transfer in the field of vine and wine. The building, on the Gaillarde campus, will contribute to the reputation of the vine and wine industry by creating a unique and innovative reference site. It will bring together the Institut Agro's vine and wine center and the Sciences pour l'œnologie(UMR SPO) research team, as well as professional partners from the sector. The 6,000 m² building will accommodate 100 scientists, 300 students and more than 120 professional partners in this structure dedicated to research, training and innovation.

This innovative project is in line with the university innovation cluster's key objectives of promoting Research partnerships and technology transfer. It's another opportunity for the region to "showcase the key role played by wine and vines in Montpellier and the region", declared Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, at the SITEVI research & innovation stand.
