The UM stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people
Message from President Philippe Augé
Our university, founded on democratic and humanist values, wishes to express its deep dismay and total condemnation of the Russian offensive in Ukraine. We wish to affirm our full solidarity with the Ukrainian people and our unconditional support for the academic and scientific communities affected by this armed conflict.

Students and staff at UM affected by this conflict can contact us by email to be referred to support services.
In accordance with ministerial guidelines, new bilateral cooperation projects with Russia and student exchanges to Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia have been suspended.
We hope that we will soon find our way back to a path where the founding principles of our civilization—human rights, respect for others, cooperation, knowledge and its sharing, and so on—can prevail over this war-mongering frenzy; yet our concern, in this very dark period for Europe, remains profound.
Philippe Augé
President of the University of Montpellier
