Social assistants and social aid

Employees

Helping staff facing difficult situations and developing a sense of belonging to our community: these are the objectives of the social policy of the University of Montpellier. Our system of social and leisure benefits affirms our values of fairness, solidarity, responsibility, social cohesion and personal fulfillment.

In addition to interdepartmental benefits, the university offers specific assistance to help you cope with difficulties in many areas of daily life (help with costly care, exceptional financial aid, etc.),

At the heart of the system, the UM's social workers are there to support you, helping you resolve your professional, personal and family problems.

Our social policy also aims to encourage everyone to take part in sporting, leisure and cultural activities (vouchers, ticket sales) (see tab...).

Social assistance

There are two types of service:

  • interministerial services, known as PIM ;
  • the University of Montpellier's social action initiative, called ASIUM.

Some assistance is conditional, while others are open to all.

There are three categories of aid:

  • allocated to ALL staff, permanent and contract, from their 1st day at the establishment
  • attributed from the 1st day at the establishment, to permanent staff, and to contract staff with a minimum 6-month employment contract or after 6 months of multiple contracts
  • granted on a means-tested basis.
What you need to know

Benefits are granted on application to the Social Action and Leisure Department.

Social action benefits are optional.

They may only be granted within the limits of the appropriations set aside for this purpose, and their payment may not give rise to a callback.

Exceptional aid and interest-free loans

If you're experiencing occasional, unforeseen financial difficulties, our social workers can prepare applications for exceptional financial aid or interest-free loans, which they present anonymously to the UM's social committee, which meets around once a month.

Contact them for further information.

Help with vacations, leisure activities and breaks

Encourage staff and their families to go on vacation: camping, unapproved rental accommodation, hotels, etc.

This aid covers all stays not covered by the interministerial "children's stays" benefit.

From €10.50/day to €14.70/day, depending on the family quota (QF), with an annual family ceiling of €300 to €450.
