Student Life Office (BVE)
The BVE, or Student Life Office, is a key player in student life at the University of Montpellier, managed BY and FOR students. It currently consists of the student vice president, a student life officer, and several elected student representatives. The BVE works closely with the various departments and divisions of the University as well as with student associations.
The missions of the BVE
- Be a driving force for improving living and studying conditions (e.g., adapted meal plans for working students, organization of food distribution, etc.);
- Organize various events and activities (examples below);
- Coordinate and assist student associations and tutoring programs at the University;
- Support student projects and their funding applications (FSDIE projects);
- Participate in the organization of student life venues (MDEs, (S)PACE);
- Organize campus events in collaboration with the various university departments;
- Participate in the creation of the University's student guide.

Examples of projects supported by the BVE
Food distributions on campuses
In partnership with the Linkee association, the BVE offers food distributions every other Monday at the Triolet and Richter MDEs.
New Student Orientation Days
The BVE, together with the University's cultural and institutional associations, departments, and partners, welcomes students to the Jardin des Plantes every year in September for the start of the academic year.
Sports & Wellness Village
Every year, the BVE organizes the Sports & Wellness Village at the University Sports Center a few days after orientation week. The program includes various sports and parasports activities (bubble soccer, fitness trails, tournaments, etc.), introductions to cardiac massage, a smoothie bike, and many other activities.
Circular Weeks raising awareness about ecological transition
In October, BVE, in partnership with Ile des Possibles, is offering various DIY workshops, resource centers, and conferences on the theme of ecological transition.
International Student Welcome Party
The welcome party for international students takes place every year in February to welcome new international arrivals in the second semester and help them integrate into UM life.
Thank-you ceremonies for tutors
Every year in early June, at the Jardin des Plantes, the BVE honors the commitment of tutors from associations and UEIs (UFRs, schools, and institutes) at the University.
Training courses & Association cafés
Twice a year, the BVE organizes training for student associations at the University. The purpose of this event is to inform them about the resources and services available to them and to train them on certain topics (project management, prevention of gender-based and sexual violence, disability, organizing festive events, combating discrimination, etc.).
The "Association Cafés" are social evenings designed to promote exchanges between university associations.
Arts and Culture Week
In April, for one week, the BVE celebrates arts and culture through a varied program of events: writing evenings, public speaking competitions, screenings, concerts, theater, and more. The event concludes with the Village des Arts et des Cultures (Arts and Culture Village) on the Triolet campus, where the university's cultural associations and services come together to offer workshops and concerts.
Doctoral student cafés
The PhD student cafés aim to combat social isolation among PhD students by offering them regular opportunities to meet in a friendly atmosphere.
The BVE is the student representative body that actively participates in the management of university life and the improvement of student life. Don't hesitate to get in touch with these committed students!
