EXPLORE Call for Proposals

Content type: Page
EXPLORE is a call for projects from the University of Montpellier, funded under the I-SITE Excellence Program (P.E.I.), aimed at supporting international mobility for faculty and doctoral students. The goal of this initiative is to foster the development of new international academic, scientific, and institutional collaborations; to strengthen the University of Montpellier’s strategic partnerships; to support the acquisition of knowledge and expertise; and to contribute to the university’s international influence. Simply attending a symposium or conference is not eligible. The program consists of two main components, depending on the target audience and the type of mobility. Staff Component: The staff component is intended for faculty members Professors, researchers, engineers, technicians, and administrative staff at the University of Montpellier, its P.E.I. partners, and its international partners. It covers short-term individual international mobility, both incoming and outgoing, as well as outgoing group mobility. These mobility opportunities enable the creation or strengthening of collaborations, the development of institutional partnerships, support for the establishment of training or research projects, and the acquisition of international knowledge and expertise. Ph.D. Student Program The Ph.D. Student Program supports short-term international mobility for Ph.D. students in the form of individual incoming or outgoing research stays. It aims to enhance Ph.D. students’ international experience, promote the acquisition of knowledge and expertise, and contribute to the development of collaborations between research institutions. Hosted at the University of Montpellier Candidates wishing to undertake an incoming mobility stay at the University of Montpellier are invited to identify a host institution related to their academic, scientific, or institutional project. To prepare for their mobility, they can consult information about the research institutions and constituent units of the University of Montpellier: University of Montpellier Research Clusters Faculties, Schools, and Institutes Apply In this section, you will find the latest EXPLORE call for proposals, as well as information on participation procedures, eligibility criteria, details of financial support, and documents useful for carrying out selected exchange programs.

International Students – Academic Year 2026–2027

What tuition fees apply to your situation? The decree of May 19, 2026, regarding “the procedures for tuition fee exemptions for international students” amends the regulatory framework and introduces new provisions for students who wish to enroll at the University of Montpellier. Until now, in accordance with existing regulations, the University of Montpellier could grant a partial exemption from tuition fees to all non-EU students. From now on, tuition fees are redefined and regulated by the decree’s entry into force. This article aims to present the main changes introduced by this reform, the groups affected, and the implementation procedures scheduled to take effect starting with the 2026 academic year. What are differentiated tuition fees? Differentiated tuition fees, which are now mandatory, are part of the national policy for welcoming international students. They consist of applying specific tuition fees to certain non-EU students. For all students, the amount of tuition fees, as set by law, varies depending on the level of study (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, etc.) and the student’s administrative status (scholarship recipients, beneficiaries of international protection, apprentices with an apprenticeship contract, wards of the state, etc.). Individual exemption provisions provided for by the regulations will also be available once enrollment is complete, subject to certain conditions and within limited parameters. (Information to follow). What tuition fees do I need to pay for the 2026–2027 academic year? Payment scenarios for national/EU tuition fees: I pay national tuition fees (€178 for a bachelor’s degree, €255 for a master’s degree, €398 for a doctoral degree or HDR) if: I am a so-called “EU” student who is a national of a member country of the European Union (EU)¹; from the European Economic Area (EEA)²; from the Swiss Confederation; from the principalities of Monaco or Andorra; from Quebec (Canada). I am a so-called “non-EU” student who wishes to pursue a degree in a doctoral program, HDR, or a postgraduate health program (excluding short-term postgraduate programs); in the CPGE program; in the same field of study and at the same academic level in the 2026–2027 academic year as in the program in which I was enrolled in the 2025–2026 academic year at theUM (including if I repeated a year); an “Études en France” applicant with a letter of admission dated before May 20, 2026. I am a so-called non-EU student whose personal situation is as follows: I have been a tax resident in France (or part of a tax household in France) for more than 2 years; I hold a residence permit bearing the notation “residence permit for a family member of an EU1, EEA2, or Swiss citizen”; I hold a French resident card, or, in the case of a minor, am included on my parents’ resident card; I have been granted refugee status or subsidiary protection, or my parents or legal guardian have been granted such status. Situations Involving Differential Tuition Fees I pay differential tuition fees if: I do not fall under any of the other categories listed above; I am pursuing a state-certified Doctor of Dental Surgery degree as part of a short postgraduate program (including a thesis); I am pursuing a state-certified Doctor of Pharmacy degree as part of a short postgraduate program (including a thesis). Exemption criteria I am automatically exempt if: I am a scholarship recipient; I am a ward of the court; I am a student of Lebanese nationality residing in Lebanon: full exemption on an exceptional basis for the 2026 academic year upon presentation of a certificate issued by Campus France Differentiated Tuition Fees 2026–2027 Download
