The Montpellier Alexander Grothendieck Institute (IMAG) is a joint research unit of the CNRS and the University of Montpellier with nearly 170 members, located on the University’s Triolet campus. Research at IMAG covers a very broad spectrum, ranging from fundamental mathematics to industrial applications, as well as the didactics and epistemology of mathematics. LIRDEF conducts research in the fields of education and training, focusing on three main areas: Education, Policy, and Society; Knowledge, Practices, and Pedagogy; Work, Training, and Professionalism. These activities focus specifically on teaching and learning processes, the activities of actors in professional contexts, processes of socialization, professionalization, and identity formation, as well as “education for,” the history of teaching, and the design of situations with educational objectives. The EDSM’s general research focus is on collective bargaining. Following the fundamental reforms of recent years, the focus is, more specifically, on assessing the social innovation brought about by collective bargaining agreements and conventions. It also involves, in particular, examining the issue of small businesses, seeking to gauge the suitability (or unsuitability) of labor law for small businesses. A common thread running through all this is the central issue of (collective) bargaining in very small enterprises.
