Understanding Prejudice: The Mechanisms of Hate and Rejection
This event has already taken place!
Opening remarks by Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier.
Speakers:
- Christèle Fraïssé, associate professor of social psychology;
- Maras, a rapper and slam poet, was the 2016 world runner-up in freestyle rap and the 2014 French slam champion.

In France, one in five students has witnessed LGBT+phobic slurs. Why? What are the roots of this hatred? Can we really call it a phobia? This lecture will address these key questions to help us better understand how our society fosters discrimination and violence.
The event will conclude with an impromptu rap summary, followed by a rap and beatbox concert. It’s an original and dynamic way to explore this theme, all while enjoying a rainbow-themed buffet.
