The Vice President also took advantage of this event to meet with UESTC school principals Cao Ping, Peng Lan, and Hu Jun. While the two cities have been twinned since 1981, the first twinning between a French city and a Chinese city, the cooperative partnerships and projects that unite the two universities have continued to develop. UESTC is also home to the Alliance Française in Chengdu and co-founded the Confucius Institute in Montpellier with UM.

Concrete and sustainable actions

Following this visit, UM welcomed a Chinese delegation on November 6. The agenda for this meeting included discussions on new joint projects, including a winter school in mathematics and engineering to be held at the Faculty of Science in 2026, as well as a presentation of LIRMM."UESTC is a long-standing and privileged partner with whom we intend to consolidate ties through concrete and sustainable actions," said François Pierrot.
