International Students: Changes to Tuition Fees for the 2026 Academic Year
For several years now, French regulations have provided for the application of differentiated tuition fees for certain international students. Until now, the University of Montpellier had chosen to exempt the students in question in order to ensure equitable access to higher education; however, the entry into force of Decree No. 2026-385 of May 19, 2026, regarding differentiated tuition fees, changes this framework by significantly limiting the possibilities for exemptions.
Starting with the 2026 academic year, differentiated tuition fees will therefore apply to the international students concerned, in accordance with current regulations. The regulations also provide for exemptions in specific situations defined by the regulations.
Recognizing the implications of these regulatory changes for the students affected, the University of Montpellier is providing personalized support to inform them and guide them through the enrollment process, in order to:
