Imagine the stress an international student feels when arriving alone at an airport or train station in a country they’ve never been to before… Imagine how hard it is for them to find their way around a city and a campus, and to handle tasks like opening a bank account or setting up a phone line…
The international mentoring program, a partnership between the Crous de Montpellier-Occitanie and the Languedoc-Roussillon Universities Consortium (ComUE), is a personalized support service for international students—whether on individual study abroad programs or exchange programs—who have recently arrived in Montpellier, Nîmes, or Perpignan.
Welcoming, supporting, and guiding international students from the moment they arrive in the city—these are the roles of the mentors in the International Mentorship Program. During the first two months of their arrival—in September and October 2019—mentees are welcomed individually to help them successfully integrate into their academic settings and the city.
International sponsorship is a free, volunteer-based program.
What are the requirements to become a sponsor?
- be a student (French or international);
- have completed at least one year of study in Montpellier, Nîmes, or Perpignan;
- be fluent in French and have a good command of English and/or Spanish;
- have some free time (about 20 hours between September and October 2019).
