To mark the new Africa–France Summit, hosted this year in Montpellier, this fifteenth issue of your magazine, Lum, is entirely devoted to Africa.

More specifically, in Africa—that continent of contrasts with which we have forged close ties, as evidenced by the numerous research projects conducted with our partners in Africa and featured in this special issue of your magazine. 

Track elephants on their mysterious migrations; keep an eye on beaches that are disappearing before our very eyes. Follow the researchers who work every day to better understand issues related to water and food resources, in order to anticipate and adapt to changes—both climate-related and demographic. Meet also those who fight daily against major health threats that endanger populations, such as the Ebola virus or sleeping sickness…
