The University of Montpellier is above all a place where every student should feel safe, free to be themselves and express themselves. However, certain rules and behaviors must be respected in order to maintain a peaceful environment. Committed to combating all forms of violence, discrimination, and harassment, UM encourages community involvement while emphasizing the importance of responsibility, respect, and tolerance. In order to reinforce the rules of good conduct and ensure responsible socializing, the university provides several tools for the student community and associations. Various preventive measures are carried out within the university, aimed at students and members of associations, such as training on gender-based and sexual violence and discrimination. Hazing is a crime that consists of causing a person to suffer or commit humiliating or degrading acts. It is punishable by six months' imprisonment and a fine of €7,500. If you are a witness or victim of hazing, please contact us (all reports and requests are treated confidentially). Event organizers should contact the student life department. University life offers a wealth of enriching experiences and opportunities. It is a special time to flourish, forge bonds, get to know yourself better, and gain maturity. The University of Montpellier is fully committed to this dynamic. Student GuideDownload Meet, grow, share Across all campuses and in areas dedicated to student life, there are many initiatives that allow students to have fun, relax, and develop transferable skills that are useful for academic success. The University of Montpellier also welcomes many international students, who contribute fully to the richness and diversity of university life. Cultural and sporting activities, student associations, and festive events: everything is designed to promote social ties, personal fulfillment, and a smooth progression throughout your studies. A specific and innovative annual program, entitled "Boost ton English," is offered to all students. It consists of a variety of activities with English-speaking speakers that allow students to practice English for free and in a fun way (visits to Montpellier, weekends, pottery workshops, etc.). Artistic workshops are regularly organized, particularly during vacation periods, to introduce students to or improve their skills in painting, theater, photography, botanical drawing, etc. Listen, support, act The university also provides essential support for students experiencing difficulties. Whether it's breaking out of isolation, dealing with a precarious situation, or receiving psychological or social support, several services are available to listen and support them. The Student Life Office (BVE), a real driving force behind campus life, coordinates, organizes, and supports numerous activities within the university. All of these activities are made possible in large part by the Student and Campus Life Contribution (CVEC). Finally, the Student Initiative Solidarity and Development Fund (FSDIE) supports both student association initiatives and students in need.

Association of Friends of Scientific and Technical Collections
Content type: Page
Why did the need for such an association arise? Because these collections are very numerous and diverse, and the need to preserve and promote them has not always been a priority for the University or research institutions. Institutional recognition of these collections is relatively recent, and a formalized collections department (now SPH) was only established (at the then UM2) in 2004, and even then with limited human resources. Staff members who were aware of the issue then came together to form the association. The question of their status (before the association was created) had been raised on several occasions with the legal services of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which did not want to hear about "volunteers" in the institutional context, so the association was created in September 2004. In what capacity do the members of the Association intervene? As experts: Their expertise (thatProfessors, researchers, advanced students, doctoral students, practitioners and technical staff who have had, or have had little or no connection with these collections, enlightened amateurs) can be put to good use at various levels: in terms of the objects themselves, their conservation and their promotion for and by research (making them available to researchers or participating in research, scientific publications, etc.), and their promotion through the selection and presentation of objects to help disseminate scientific culture (exhibitions, scientific workshops, conferences, etc.). The AACST is a partner and is not subordinate to any University department: Its scope of action was clearly defined when it was created, both by its founders and by the University (with the approval of the relevant ministry) and its then Collections Department. However, any intervention on the University's collections (and by delegation, under the responsibility of the Historical Heritage Department or a research laboratory) can only be carried out with the agreement of the SPH or the research laboratory.
