Educational innovation
Content type: Page
At the University of Montpellier, educational innovation is now a reality. The years of the I-SITE MUSE project have been fundamental in this regard. Innovating in education means encouraging a change in attitude among those involved in university teaching. It also means transforming the spaces where teaching takes place and, finally, experimenting with new and increasingly innovative methods. It is a profound change in the usual paradigms of knowledge transmission with the aim of promoting the professional development of teachers and integrating students into this process. But innovation also means transmitting and disseminating, and to do this, it is necessary to observe the transformations and measure the impact of their implementation. This innovation in teaching is part of the training strategy promoted by the Presidency of the University of Montpellier and implemented by the VP CFVU. It has been made a reality through the creation of the Joint Service for Support for Pedagogical Innovation. The Center for Support of Pedagogical Innovation (CSIP): a catalyst for change The CSIP, drawing on the experience gained during the I-SITE MUSE years, is firmly committed to supporting teachers and Professors to transform their teaching methods. The CSIP is a vision, because without denying the value of traditional teaching methods, it focuses its mission on interactive teaching methods that bring together students, teachers, researchers, teaching spaces, and technologies. The goal is to facilitate the co-construction of skills and knowledge. The CSIP values the implementation of teaching methods centered on human interaction, because learning is a lifelong journey where a multitude of educational opportunities intersect, meet, and are shared. Finally, the CSIP is an experimental approach, rooted in the reality of teaching in the 21st century. Website The Observatory of Pedagogical Transformation (OTP) The OTP conducts studies to better understand the teaching practices of university professors, how they are changing, and their impact on student success. Students' perceptions of teaching practices are at the heart of these studies. They are carried out for the benefit of professors and in collaboration with them. OTP website

Transition between secondary school and university
Content type: Page
Ensuring the transition from secondary school to university: how, who is involved, and for what purposes? For several years, the University of Montpellier has been involved in initiatives aimed at re-establishing or strengthening synergies between secondary and higher education to facilitate this transition. These initiatives also aim to develop young people's ambition to pursue higher education as early as possible. Since 2008, initiatives within the framework of liaison operations have multiplied and diversified according to the target audiences. Some of these initiatives, particularly for high school students, are part of an active guidance program whose objective is to inform and support them in their choice of career path and help them integrate into the programs best suited to their background and plans. Others aim to develop educational projects for younger audiences, primary and middle school students, to help them develop their taste, interest, and ambition for school. You can meet us at various academic information fairs in Perpignan, Mende, Alès, etc. High school student programs at the University With the aim of promoting scientific studies, the University of Montpellier, in partnership with the Montpellier Regional Education Authority, welcomes high school students in their junior and senior years (general and technological streams) throughout the year for an "immersion" in courses on the Triolet campus. Find out more Who is involved? Career guidance is everyone's business! First and foremost, the students themselves. The aim is to support them in developing their plans throughout their school career in order to encourage positive career choices and prevent the risk of academic and university failure. Members of the educational community (teachers, COPs, CPEs, teaching assistants, etc.) and higher education staff (teachers-researchers, project managers, guidance counselors, etc.) are the primary actors in this support for choice. The operations also aim to create new synergy between the two worlds and encourage exchanges on practices to best prepare students for higher education. Finally, UM students are indispensable to these initiatives. Their contributions are greatly appreciated by secondary school students, both for sharing their experiences and their student life, and for their role as tutors in specific projects. These exchanges are enriching for both secondary school students and our students. In summary, the aim of these outreach activities is to: introduce students to university life and the courses offered at the University; promote the emergence of a common teaching culture to best prepare high school students; develop innovative initiatives to raise young people's academic ambitions as early as possible; enable positive guidance for pupils and greater success for students. Apprenticeship
Content type: Page
Apprenticeships are a work-study training program that combines academic study with practical experience in a company, allowing students to prepare for a degree while being employed by a company. Popular with both young people and employers, apprenticeships have become a winning combination for obtaining a degree up to master's level. They are also a way to quickly enter the workforce through a first skilled job. Throughout the year, apprentices alternate between periods of study at university and periods of work in a company, according to a schedule defined at the outset by the training center and the company. They are paid according to their age and year of study and are eligible for various forms of financial assistance. This program is open to young people under the age of 30 on the day the contract is signed. Download the apprenticeship brochureDownload See the apprenticeship training offerDownload https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86pOBRM-x6o Why choose an apprenticeship? Apprenticeship training allows students to gain initial professional experience and discover their chosen profession before the end of their school career. More than just an internship, an apprenticeship is considered a real job and allows for total immersion in the life of the company. It is also an opportunity to expand your network. Having 1 to 3 years of professional experience at the end of your training is also a real asset in getting noticed by future employers. And it is not uncommon for companies to recruit their apprentices at the end of their apprenticeship contract. What apprenticeship qualifications are available? All levels of higher education qualifications are now available through apprenticeships: BUT, Licence Pro, Licence, Master's, Diplôme National, Diplôme d'Ingénieur. At UM, more than 250 training courses are already open to apprenticeships, and new courses are added every year. To find a course in your field of interest, consult UM's apprenticeship training offerings. What is the status and what are the duties? Apprentices at the university have dual status as students and employees. They perform two activities at the same time and alternate between periods of training at the university and work at the company, at a pace that can vary from a few days to several weeks, depending on the educational requirements of the program and the needs of the company. Their duties at the company are validated by the teaching team to ensure that they are relevant to the program. This allows them to directly compare the theoretical concepts learned in class with real-life situations encountered in the field. What remuneration and benefits are available? Apprentices are employees of the company to which they are bound by an apprenticeship contract. They are covered by social legislation for employees and receive minimum remuneration, calculated according to their age and seniority. The years of apprenticeship count as full years for retirement purposes. Student apprentices are exempt from: registration fees (these are paid by the CFA); student social security contributions (they are covered by social security as employees). They are entitled to: a medical examination upon hiring as an employee; additional financial assistance—upon request (assistance with driver's license, transportation, housing, etc.); the same rights as the company's employees. However: Apprentices are not exempt from the CVEC (Contribution à la Vie Etudiante et Campus – Student and Campus Contribution): €95. The payment of social criteria-based grants is suspended during the apprenticeship contract. For more information, please refer to the Apprenticeship Contract section on the service.public.fr website.
