Educational innovation

Content type : Page
At the University of Montpellier, educational innovation is now a reality. The years of the MUSE I-SITE have been seminal in this respect. Innovating pedagogy means encouraging a change in attitude on the part of those involved in university teaching. It also means transforming the spaces in which teaching takes place, and experimenting with new, ever more innovative methods. It's a profound change in the usual paradigms of knowledge transmission, with the aim of fostering the professional development of teachers and integrating students into the process. But innovation also means transmitting and spreading knowledge, and to do this we need to observe transformations and measure the impact of our implementations. This innovative approach to teaching is part of the training strategy put forward by the President of the University of Montpellier and implemented by the VP CFVU. It is embodied in the creation of the Service Commun de Soutien à l'Innovation Pédagogique. The Centre de Soutien aux Innovations Pédagogiques (CSIP): stimulating change The CSIP, backed by the experience gained during the I-SITE MUSE years, is resolutely committed to working alongside teachers and Professors wishing to transform their teaching methods. The CSIP is a vision, since without denying transmissive pedagogies, it is around interactive pedagogies that combine students, teachers, researchers, pedagogical spaces and technologies that its mission is exercised. The aim is to facilitate the co-construction of skills and knowledge. CSIP's value lies in implementing pedagogies centered on human interaction, because learning is a life path where a multitude of pedagogical opportunities intersect, meet and share. Finally, CSIP is an experimental approach, rooted in the reality of 21st-century teaching. Website The Observatoire de la Transformation Pédagogique (OTP) The OTP conducts studies to gain a better understanding of the pedagogical practices of university teachers, how they are changing and what impact they have on student success. Students' perceptions of teaching practices are at the heart of these studies. They are carried out at the service of teachers and in collaboration with them. OTP website

Linking secondary schools and universities

Content type : Page
Ensuring the transition between secondary school and university: how, who is involved, and for what purposes? The University of Montpellier has been involved for several years in initiatives aimed at restoring or strengthening synergies between secondary and higher education to facilitate this transition. These initiatives also aim to develop young people's ambitions for further studies as early as possible. Since 2008, the activities within the framework of liaison operations have multiplied and diversified according to the target audiences. Some, particularly for high school students, are part of active guidance, the objective of which is to inform them, support them in their choice of direction, and help them integrate the sectors best suited to their background and their project. Others aim to develop educational projects for younger audiences, primary and secondary school students, to allow them to develop their tastes, interests, and academic ambitions. You can meet us at the various academic information fairs in Perpignan, Mende, Alès, etc. High School Student Operations at the University In order to promote scientific studies, the University of Montpellier, in partnership with the Montpellier Rectorate, welcomes students in their first and final years of science (general and technological streams) throughout the year for an "immersion" in courses on the Triolet campus. Learn more Who is involved? Guidance is everyone's business! The first person concerned is the students. The goal is to support them in building their project throughout their studies in order to promote positive guidance and prevent the risk of academic and university failure. Members of the educational community (teachers, COP, CPE, educational assistants, etc.) and higher education staff (teacher-researchers, project managers, guidance staff, etc.) are the primary actors in this support for choice. The operations also aim to create a new synergy between the two worlds and encourage discussions on practices to best prepare students for higher education. Finally, essential to the actions are the UM students. Their interventions are highly appreciated by secondary school students both for the testimony of their journey, the sharing of their student experience but also their role as tutors in the context of specific work. Enriching exchanges for both the students and our students. In summary The liaison operations aim to ... introduce university life and training at the University, encourage the emergence of a common teaching culture to best prepare high school students, develop innovative actions to increase the academic ambition of young people as early as possible, enable positive guidance for students and better student success. Learning

Apprenticeship is a work-study program that combines study and practical experience in a company, enabling students to prepare for a degree while working for a company. Popular with young people and employers alike, apprenticeship has become a winning combination for obtaining a degree up to bac+5. It's also a way of quickly breaking into working life through a 1ᵉʳ skilled job. The apprentice alternates, throughout the year, between periods of classes at the university and periods of work at the company, according to a schedule defined at the outset, by the training center and the company. Students are paid according to their age and year of study, and are eligible for various forms of financial aid. The scheme is open to young people under 30 years of age on the day the contract is signed. Download the apprenticeship brochureDownload the apprenticeship brochureDownload https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86pOBRM-x6o Why choose apprenticeship? Apprenticeship training gives students their first work experience and a chance to discover their chosen profession before they finish school. More than an internship, an apprenticeship is considered a real job, offering total immersion in corporate life. It's also an opportunity to enrich your network. Having 1 or 3 years' professional experience at the end of your training is also a real asset when it comes to getting noticed by future employers. And it's not uncommon for companies to recruit their apprentices at the end of their apprenticeship contract. What are the apprenticeship qualifications? Apprenticeships are now available for all levels of higher education diploma: BUT, Licence Pro, Licence, Master, Diplôme National, Diplôme d'Ingénieur. At the UM, more than 250 courses are already open to apprenticeship, and new ones are opening up every year. To find a course in the field you're looking for, consult the UM's apprenticeship offer. Status and responsibilities Apprentices at the university have dual status as students and employees. They carry out two activities at the same time, alternating periods of training at the university and work in the company, at a pace that can vary from a few days to several weeks, depending on the educational requirements of the course and the needs of the company. The company's assignments are validated by the teaching team to ensure that they are in line with the course. This enables them to directly confront the theoretical notions they have learned in class with real-life situations encountered in the field. Compensation and benefits Apprentices are salaried employees of the company to which they have signed an apprenticeship contract. They benefit from the social legislation applicable to salaried employees, as well as a minimum wage based on their age and seniority. Apprenticeship years are counted as full years for retirement purposes. The student-apprentice is exempt from: enrolment fees (paid by the CFA); student social security charges (as an employee, they are covered by social security). He/she benefits from: a medical examination on hiring as an employee; additional financial assistance - on request (assistance with driving license, transport, housing, ....); the same rights as company employees. On the other hand : Apprentices are not exempt from the CVEC (Contribution à la Vie Etudiante et Campus): €95. Payment of social grants is suspended during the apprenticeship contract. For further information, please consult the Apprenticeship contract section of the service.public.fr website.
