Center for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology (CEFE)

UMR 5175

The CEFE project aims to understand the dynamics, functioning, and evolution of life, from “bacteria to elephants” and “from the genome to the planet.”

It is based on three goals:

  1. understanding the living world to anticipate what tomorrow will bring;
  2. lead to innovations and meet society's expectations;
  3. to pursue a science that is "unifying" and diverse in its disciplinary approaches.

These research questions are posed against a backdrop marked by sweeping global changes, the development of new biotechnology, and society’s growing demand for research.
