Center for Functional and Evolutionary Ecology (CEFE)

The CEFE project aims to understand the dynamics, functioning, and evolution of life, from “bacteria to elephants” and “from the genome to the planet.”
It is based on three goals:
- understand the living world to anticipate what tomorrow will bring;
- drive innovation and meet society's expectations;
- to practice a science that is “unifying” and diverse in its disciplinary approaches.
These research questions are posed against a backdrop marked by far-reaching global changes, the development of new technologies for manipulating living organisms, and society’s growing demand for research.
