Center for Infectious Disease Studies and Anti-Infective Pharmacology (CEMIPAI)

CEMIPAI is a service laboratory of the CNRS and the University of Montpellier, open to academic teams and companies.
It is organized around one of the largest Level 3 microbiology safety laboratories in France, allowing work to be carried out in a controlled atmosphere on infectious biological samples and Class 3 biological agents, such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis viruses, and mosquito-borne viruses (Chikungunya, Dengue, Zika), pathogenic bacteria, and prions.
CEMIPAI welcomes teams, trains researchers in the handling of infectious agents, and develops cell culture tests to screen molecules of therapeutic interest developed by researchers in the private and public sectors. State-of-the-art super-resolution microscopy equipment allows infected cells, viruses, and bacteria to be observed at the nanometric scale.
