Center for Infectious Disease Research and Anti-Infective Pharmacology (CEMIPAI)

CEMIPAI is a service laboratory operated by the CNRS and the University of Montpellier, open to academic teams and businesses.
It is centered around one of France’s largest Level 3 microbiological safety laboratories, enabling work in a controlled environment on infectious biological samples and Class 3 biological agents, such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis viruses, and mosquito-borne viruses (Chikungunya, Dengue, Zika), pathogenic bacteria, and prions.
CEMIPAI hosts research teams, trains researchers in the handling of infectious agents, and develops cell culture-based assays to screen for molecules of therapeutic interest developed by researchers in both the private and public sectors. State-of-the-art super-resolution microscopy equipment enables the observation of infected cells, viruses, and bacteria at the nanoscale.
