Montpellier Institute for Infectious Disease Research s (IRIM)

Infectious diseases account for 35% of deaths worldwide and are the leading cause of death among children and young adults. In addition, 17% of new cancer cases are believed to be caused by infectious agents. Research in infectious diseases is therefore essential to better understand how an infectious agent multiplies within a living organism so that we can prevent, treat, and even cure the diseases caused by these infections.

IRIM (Montpellier Institute for Infectious Disease Research ) is a research center focused primarily on high-quality basic research in the fields of bacteriology, virology, and immunity.
