Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IDESP)
The Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IDESP) aims to understand the development and progression of chronic diseases, which affect more than 30% of the population and account for 80% of healthcare spending.

To this end, Research University of Montpellier Joint Research Unit is employing a new approach that takes into account the broader environment and care pathways through multimodal markers (clinical, biological, behavioral, psychological, social, and environmental) and leverages the power of mathematics tailored to big data.
Its goal is to develop optimized care and prevention pathways for relevant patient populations. Allergic and respiratory diseases, diabetes, obesity, kidney and vascular diseases, inflammatory rheumatic diseases, and cancers form the basis of the initial models.
