Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IDESP)
The Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health (IDESP) aims to understand the development and progression of chronic diseases, which affect more than 30% of the population and account for 80% of healthcare spending.

To this end, the INSERM–University of Montpellier Joint Research Unit “ Research ” is using a new approach that takes into account the environment in the broadest sense and care trajectories through multimodal markers (clinical, biological, behavioral, psychological, social, and environmental) and draws on the power of mathematics applied to big data.
Its goal is to develop optimized care and prevention pathways for relevant patient populations. Allergic and respiratory diseases, diabetes, obesity, kidney and vascular diseases, inflammatory rheumatic diseases, and cancers are the focus of the initial modeling efforts.
