Montpellier Universe and Particles Laboratory (LUPM)

UMR 5299

The Montpellier Universe and Particles Laboratory (LUPM) is dedicated to studying the universe as a whole and in its smallest dimensions. At LUPM, researchers and teacher-researchers study fundamental constituents, from the most elementary particles, atoms, and molecules to the largest and oldest gravitational structures, such as stars and galaxies.

Organized into three scientific teams, the field of research at LUPM is very broad and covers large areas of theoretical physics, fundamental and observational astrophysics, such as the physics of the early universe, the study of the properties of elementary particles, the nature of dark matter, the objects at the origin of high-energy cosmic rays, the formation of the first molecules in the Universe, the structure and evolution of stars, and their interaction with the interstellar medium.
