# Science Is Fun: From the Psychology of Preventive Measures to Quarantine Bugs

Welcome to *La science s’aMuse*, the science show co-produced byUM Divergence-FM, which takes you on a journey through the Muse laboratory archipelago. Today we’re stopping at EuroMov, where Yannick Stephen explores the link between psychological traits and adherence to safety protocols. In the second half of the show, Magali Eychenne gives us a tour of the quarantine insect facility.

Welcome aboard the UM liner UM for the Euromov laboratory. Make yourself comfortable on one of the sofas provided. Take a deep breath and dive into the intricacies of human psychology. Last June, an article in the *European Journal of Personality* explored the role our various personality traits might play in the behavioral responses we develop in light of the public health guidelines implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study, conducted in the United States with over 2,000 participants, was carried out byFlorida State University and the University of Montpellier.
Does the fact that you’re slightly emotionally unstable, extroverted, or empathetic influence your willingness to wash your hands or wear a mask? Did your self-discipline or your anger subconsciously guide how you managed your toilet paper supplies during lockdown? Our guest today will tell you all about it. We’ll be discussing this with Yannick Stephen, a researcher in health psychology at the Euromov laboratory.

In the second half of the program, we’ll take you to the Triolet campus to explore the PIQ platform—short for “quarantine insect platform”—and Magali Eychenne from the Diversity, Genomes, and Microorganism-Insect Interactions Laboratory will be our guide.

Science is Fun—you’ve got the ticket, let’s go!
