Educational innovation

Content type : Page
At the University of Montpellier, educational innovation is now a reality. The years of the MUSE I-SITE have been seminal in this respect. Innovating pedagogy means encouraging a change in attitude on the part of those involved in university teaching. It also means transforming the spaces in which teaching takes place, and experimenting with new, ever more innovative methods. It's a profound change in the usual paradigms of knowledge transmission, with the aim of fostering the professional development of teachers and integrating students into the process. But innovation also means transmitting and disseminating knowledge, and for this we need to observe transformations and measure the impact of implementation. This innovative approach to teaching is part of the training strategy put forward by the President of the University of Montpellier and implemented by the VP CFVU. It is embodied in the creation of the Service Commun de Soutien à l'Innovation Pédagogique. The Centre de Soutien aux Innovations Pédagogiques (CSIP): stimulating change The CSIP, backed by the experience gained during the I-SITE MUSE years, is resolutely committed to working alongside teachers and Professors wishing to transform their teaching methods. The CSIP is a vision, since without denying transmissive pedagogies, it is around interactive pedagogies that combine students, teachers, researchers, pedagogical spaces and technologies that its mission is exercised. The aim is to facilitate the co-construction of skills and knowledge. CSIP's value lies in implementing pedagogies centered on human interaction, because learning is a life path where a multitude of pedagogical opportunities intersect, meet and share. Finally, CSIP is an experimental approach, rooted in the reality of 21st-century teaching. Website The Observatoire de la Transformation Pédagogique (OTP) The OTP conducts studies to gain a better understanding of the pedagogical practices of university teachers, how they are changing and what impact they have on student success. Students' perceptions of teaching practices are at the heart of these studies. They are carried out at the service of teachers and in collaboration with them. OTP website

Linking secondary schools and universities

Content type : Page
Ensuring the transition from secondary school to university: how, who and for what purpose? For several years now, the University of Montpellier has been involved in initiatives aimed at re-establishing or reinforcing synergies between secondary and higher education to facilitate this transition. These actions also aim to develop young people's ambitions for further study as early as possible. Since 2008, the number of liaison initiatives has increased and diversified, depending on the target audience. Some, particularly for high-school students, are part of the active guidance program, which aims to inform and support them in their choice of career path, and help them to enter the streams best suited to their background and plans. Others aim to develop educational projects with younger audiences, primary and secondary school pupils, to help them develop their taste, interest and academic ambitions. You can meet us at various academic information fairs in Perpignan, Mende, Alès and elsewhere. High school students at the University To promote scientific studies, the University of Montpellier, in partnership with the Rectorat de Montpellier, welcomes students from the Première and Terminale scientific (general and technological streams) throughout the year for an "immersion" in courses on the Triolet campus. Find out more Who's involved? Guidance is everyone's business! First and foremost, students. The aim is to support them in the construction of their plans throughout their school career, in order to encourage a positive orientation and prevent the risk of failure at school and university. Members of the educational community (teachers, COP, CPE, educational assistants, etc.) and higher education staff (teacher-researchers, guidance counsellors, etc.) are the key players in this support for choice. The operations are also designed to create a new synergy between the two worlds and encourage exchanges on practices to best prepare students for higher education. Last but not least, the UM's students are essential to these initiatives. Their contributions are much appreciated by secondary school students, both for sharing their experiences as students and as tutors for specific projects. These are enriching exchanges for both students and pupils. In a nutshell The aim of our liaison operations is to ... introduce students to university life and courses, encourage the emergence of a common teaching culture to better prepare high school students, develop innovative actions to increase young people's academic ambitions as early as possible, and help students take a positive direction and achieve greater success. Orientation and reorientation

The SCUIO-IP helps you develop your project, from building your training path to finding a job. It can also help you with your reorientation. You're a student at the University of Montpellier, but you're not sure you're on the right track? Don't panic! If the course of study you initially chose at university doesn't meet your expectations, the university system allows you to reorient your course of study at both Bachelor's and Master's levels. To build a new study project, it's important to talk to your teachers and professional advisers as soon as possible. SCUIO-IP's Psychologues de l'Éducation Nationales (PsyEN) can provide you with personalized support to help you consider a change of direction and build your career plan. Registration Individual interviews, by appointment, also enable you to express your expectations regarding your course of study, analyze your experiences and work out guidance strategies in complete confidentiality. To make an appointment, contact the SCUIO-IP. How do I reorient my studies? In your first year of study, if you want to transfer to another course, you have two options: You can apply for a change of direction in the first semesterYou can apply for a change of direction to another specialization or even to another bachelor's degree in the second semester of your first year. Contact your academic secretary and the SCUIO-IP's Psychologues de l'Éducation Nationale (PsyEN) to find out about all the options available to you. You'll probably have to validate some courses in the first semester of your new course. You can validate your year and choose another course for the start of the next academic yearAfter the second semester of L1, you can no longer reorient yourself during the year. Instead of abandoning your course, you can also validate your current year. This will enable you to redirect your course while keeping the same level of study (L1, L2, L3). To help you build your career plan, get in touch with the National Education Psychologists (PsyEN) at SCUIO-IP. Support for further study Individualized advice, with or without an appointment, to help you prepare your application documents for further study (Bachelor's, Master's, etc.): identify your skills to make the most of them; organize your search for training; write your CV and cover letter; prepare for your interview.
