University-Business Partnerships

Content type : Page
The University of Montpellier fosters partnerships between its research laboratories and the socio-economic world through internal mechanisms or by responding to external calls for projects that encourage collaboration and promote innovation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaRlZH4Ayws Around 350 contracts are signed each year between the University of Montpellier and its academic or industrial partners, in the form of research collaborations, service provision, consortium agreements (ANR, Horizon Europe, etc.), provision of equipment, licensing contracts, co-ownership agreements or even hosting start-ups. How can a company set up an R&D partnership with a research laboratory? The Research partnership between a laboratory and a company can take the form of: Research collaboration Service provision, drawing in particular on the expertise of the University of Montpellier's technology platforms How can a company employee join a Research laboratory? The University of Montpellier offers the Companies And Campus program, which aims to increase the presence of socio-economic players on campus by providing dedicated funding. This program aims to facilitate the establishment of new partnerships, including the arrival of company employees or those with business start-up projects, in research structures around a topic of common interest. What measures are in place to strengthen exchanges between Research laboratories and companies? At regional level, initiatives can be financed as part of the Schéma Régional de l'Enseignement Supérieur, de la Research et de l'Innovation (regional plan for higher education, Research and innovation). At national level, calls for projects are issued by the ANR (Labcom, PRCE, etc.), BPI France and other foundations, as well as the CIFRE scheme, which enables companies to benefit from financial assistance to recruit a doctoral student. European level: Calls for projects are made via the Horizon Europe research and innovation funding program. Teams at the University of Montpellier can assist the scientific community in selecting the most appropriate scheme. How can I host a company at the University? As part of a research contract with one of the university's laboratories, the UM makes premises available to start-ups or young companies less than 2 years old. This enables these companies to be located on campus, close to our research facilities and technology platforms. This provision of premises, for which a fee is charged, cannot exceed a total hosting period of 6 years. By contributing to Research and Development, the government enables companies to benefit from tax advantages. The University of Montpellier is accredited to enable its socio-economic partners to benefit from the Research Collaboration Tax Credit and/or the Research Tax Credit.
