Muscle Dynamics and Metabolism (DMEM)

The DMEM Laboratory is a joint research unit of INRA and the University of Montpellier.

We are interested in understanding the tissue, cellular, and molecular mechanisms that enable skeletal muscles to develop properly and adapt to their environment.

Our hypothesis is that abnormalities in the way muscle tissue adapts to environmental changes (diet, level of physical activity) can affect the body’s homeostasis and, more broadly, overall health.

The DMEM is therefore a basic research unit dedicated to advancing our understanding of the function and physiology of skeletal muscles. We are also open to potential applications of our research, as evidenced by our partnership with private companies interested in our findings.
