Montpellier Infectious Research Institute (IRIM)

Infectious diseases are involved in 35% of deaths worldwide and are the leading cause of death among children and young adults. In addition, 17% of new cancer cases are thought to be caused by infectious agents. Research in infectious diseases is therefore essential to better understand how an infectious agent multiplies within a living organism in order to prevent, treat, and even cure the diseases caused by these infections.

The IRIM (Montpellier Institute for Research ) is a research center focused primarily on high-quality fundamental research in the fields of bacteriology, virology, and immunity.
