We talk a lot about energy sobriety while accelerating digitalization. Digital technology is full of preconceived ideas. It is far from immaterial. It is responsible for around 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, not to mention the consumption of water and metals required for equipment. If digital technology were a country, it would have 2 to 3 times the footprint of France. How can we reduce our digital impact in a world increasingly invaded by IT? What individual and collective measures can we put in place? What initiatives are already virtuous in this area? Juliette Duquesne, a freelance journalist specializing in environmental issues, spent a year investigating these issues.
